Saturday May 26th marks the fourth annual "Archive Aid" benefit for the Archives of Cajun and Creole Folklore housed in the University of Louisiana-Lafayette's Center for Louisiana Studies.
The Archives were established in 1974 and have grown considerably over the years. They house a vast treasure trove of recorded Cajun music, oral history, and folk tales.
For today's Cajun/Creole scholars, musicians, and songwriters, the Archives offer an invaluable resource and tie to the culture's origins.
This year's benefit will be held at Lafayette's Blue Moon Saloon on East Convent Street beginning at 6 pm. Included--in order of appearance--will be performances by The Figs, Feufollet, Bonsoir Catin, and the Lost Bayou Ramblers. For a modest donation of $10, you can enjoy 4 of Lafayette's premiere live music acts--and you will be helping a great cause.
